Cut Rag Tobacco Supplier in India: Ready Blends for Cigarette Manufacturers
LR Tobacco is a cut rag tobacco supplier in India working with small and mid-size cigarette manufacturers in the domestic market. If you run an MSME unit and need tobacco that goes straight into the maker at your cut width and your moisture, that is what this page covers. In leaf since 1958, fourth generation, based in the Charotar region of Kheda district, Gujarat, with over 100 acres under tobacco and capacity of 25,00,000 kg a year.
What we supply as a cut rag and ready blend tobacco supplier
Two things, depending on how much processing you keep in-house.
Finished cut rag, ready to feed the maker. Blended, cased and cut to an agreed specification, then packed and delivered. You open the case and feed it. Most MSME units buy this because it takes the blending step out of a factory that has no blending line.
Threshed lamina and grades cut on toll. Threshed and cut through our GLT partner in Guntur. Useful if you want to hold your own lamina, or want us to process leaf you already own. The processing and blending page covers how toll work is set up.
Dust, rava, stems, refuse and whole leaf are on the products page.
Benchmark matching explained plainly
Very few Indian manufacturers develop an original blend from scratch. A maker picks a brand already selling in the market they are going after and builds something close to it at their own price point. So the job is not clever blending. It is matching a reference, then holding it.
You give us the reference. A pack of the benchmark brand, a sample of the blend you run now, or the blend a previous supplier used to send. Add your price band and the machine you run.
From there we work backwards on what decides whether the blend passes on your line: nicotine, cut width and how the rag behaves in the maker, filling value and rod weight, casing character, colour, stem content, burn and draw.
Know this before you set a target. Our leaf is rain-fed with minimal irrigation, so nicotine runs high, up to 6% in raw leaf. For a cigarette blend that means blending down to your figure rather than chasing it upward, which is cheaper to control.
Why consistency beats price and clever blending
Once a benchmark is approved, the value is in repeating it. A small unit cannot absorb a lot that runs off on moisture, or a case of rag that fills differently and throws rod weight out for a full shift. That costs more than the couple of rupees a kilo saved on a cheaper lot. How we hold it batch to batch:
- Same growing belt each season, with a share grown ourselves, so the base material does not jump around
- Grades checked before blending, not after
- Nicotine measured in-house by titration on every lot before dispatch
- A sample from the approved first lot retained, and every repeat lot matched back to it
- A batch report with every lot. See quality and testing
Cut rag specification
- Product form: Cut rag, ready blends, threshed lamina, grades cut on toll · Whole leaf, dust, rava, stems, refuse sold separately
- Cut width: Cut to your specification, set on the order and held for every repeat lot
- Moisture at delivery: Agreed figure and tolerance, checked before dispatch
- Casing: Your recipe, or one we build to match your benchmark. Who supplies the casing material is agreed on the order
- Filling value: Matched to the approved sample, judged against the retained sample and on your own maker
- Nicotine: Titration on every lot before dispatch. Raw leaf up to 6%, blend target agreed in writing
- Packing: Packed to your format. Type, net weight and marking quoted per order
- Minimum order: Quoted per order against current stock. Trial lots handled separately
- Lead time: Quoted per order. A first order on a new spec takes longer than a repeat lot on a frozen one
The sample process, step by step
- Call or email with what you make, the volume you run and your price band.
- Send the reference. A pack of the benchmark, a sample of your current blend, or both.
- We tell you what we can match and what we cannot do at that price, before any money moves.
- We make a sample lot. Quantity and dispatch date are confirmed when we take the reference.
- You run it on your own machine. That trial is the only test that counts.
- You tell us what is off. Too harsh, filling low, moisture dropping in transit. We adjust and resample.
- On approval the specification is frozen in writing and the sample is retained.
- Every lot after that is matched back to it and ships with a batch report.
Volumes that suit MSME buyers
Capacity is 25 lakh kg of raw tobacco a year, so repeat volume is not a problem. The useful point for a smaller unit is the other end. You do not have to commit to container volumes to start. Tell us the quantity you want to begin with and we will confirm what we can do against current stock, and repeat lots can be scheduled monthly so you are not sitting on stock you have not sold. We supply the domestic market from Gujarat and keep an office in Gachibowli, Hyderabad for buyers in the south.
